The irony of being prepared for the worst case scenario is that not only will the anticipated event underwhelm you by design, but the extreme outcome which motivated you to so arduously prepare almost never happens. The much anticipated 2006 U.S. hurricane season would seem to be a case in point.
On the surface, the July nonfarm payroll report looked much weaker than expected with a total of 113K new jobs being created as well as the same number of private nonfarm jobs being created, the difference being government job creation, which was nothing in July.

I tried to get away, to the Cape, to relax on the beach and listen to the constant lapping of waves at high tide on the smooth, sandy shore, but when someone’s lost, water logged Blackberry floated in on the last wave of high tide to rest at my feet, it seemed pointless to try to escape. And so my beach musings quickly turned to market musings, which turned into this article.
